Once you have qualified as an ADI you will periodically be summoned for a Check Test. This is where an examiner will sit in the back of the car on one of your driving lessons to assess your performance. Alternatively the examiner can role-play a pupil similar to your Part 3.
This is your opportunity to gain a higher grade by demonstrating you have continued to put into practice what you were taught when you qualified, and not slipped into bad habits and corner cutting as some instructors end up doing. We will advise on subject matter, pupil selection, plus assess your teaching ability with role-play.
Under the Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the recent Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act, all employers have a duty of care to ensure that their employees / sub-contractors / self-employed workers who drive for their work are provided with relevant training and undergo risk assessment.

At the moment CPD is voluntary for ADIs. However the DSA have proposed that it should become mandatory in the very near future. We provide a variety of further training options to instructors that wish to develop their skills and keep up-to-date. These include seminars, workshops, and in-car training sessions.
